I’m excited to share these recipes because they use Genuine Health’s staple product Greens +. I love Greens+, because it is an extremely simple way to add the benefits of concentrated green vegetables and herbs into your daily life. Of all green powders these taste the best (I promise!). In my nutrition practice I take an evidence-based approach and I always appreciate that Genuine Health has the research to back how beneficial their products are. Why your body will thank you for drinking this
Coconut Water: This beverage has been getting a lot of media attention lately and there are a few key reasons why it lives up to its hype. Coconut water is nature’ s perfect sports drink. The electrolyte content is extremely close to that of the blood and is very restorative after bouts of intense exercise for prolonged periods of time. Coconut water is also very high in potassium. A serving of coconut water has 150% the potassium content you would find in a banana. Not bad at all.
Watermelon: One of the most beloved summer fruits, watermelon surprisingly holds its own nutrient-wise. It has a good amount of both vitamin C and beta-carotene (the pre-cursor to Vitamin A). The beautiful red colour in watermelon signifies a high amount of the antioxidant lycopene that made tomatoes (and sadly ketchup) famous for a while. Studies have shown that lycopene is protective against several different forms of cancer. Watermelon also has good amounts of potassium; when paired with coconut water you’re creating an excellent hydrating drink for the summer!
