Super Blood Potion

In recent years several obsessions have been developing in my life. One being a love for nutrition (hence becoming a holistic nutritionist), and another being vampires. With these obsessions in mind I have created this blood boostin’ smoothie. I obviously wanted to name it True Blood, but the last thing I need is a copyright infringement lawsuit from HBO. SO I have named this my Super Blood Potion.

One might ask: “Adam, what makes this a super blood potion?” My response: “An array of gorgeous nutrients that will help in the generation of new red blood cells as well as some serious iron in a highly absorbable form!” Exciting, I know. Without further adieu here is this delightful recipe.

A little more about the ingredients:

IMG_0747.jpg

Chlorella: Is a green algae that is an excellent source of iron. Iron is of the utmost necessity for blood health as it assists in circulating oxygen throughout our bodies. Chlorella is also an excellent source of vitamin C; this increases iron absorption.

Beets: Are such well-rounded vegetables that help with the formation of new blood cells as well as helping to prevent anemia. This affect is a result of the high concentrations of the nutrient folate.

Vegan protein powder: I used pea protein in my smoothie, which is also an excellent source of iron. Most vegan protein powders have a fair amount of iron as well.

AS YOU CAN SEE this smoothie has synergistic ingredients that will help you support beautiful blood health and is an excellent idea for those who have anemia. Here is the finished product!!
